Board Members

Joseph Houle
Joseph Houle · Chairperson

Joseph is a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is also a graduate of the University of Detroit School of Law. He has been a member in good standing of the Michigan Bar since 1993. His practice is devoted to the representation of individuals who are disabled and who are seeking Social
Security Disability benefits. Mr. Houle has presented to various groups both regionally and nationally on the Social Security Disability process. He is married and has 3 children. He is active in the Rochester Youth Soccer League.


Colleen Manning

Colleen Manning · Vice Chairperson

Colleen became involved with the OMCIL since 1997 as a consumer. Colleen became a full time volunteer in 1998 and was honored with the volunteer of the year award in 2000. Because she utilizes public transportation she is aware of the problems surrounding the use of public transportation. She works as an activist for available, affordable public transportation for people with disabilities. She also attends multiple ADA trainings and became a Certified ADA Specialist during her time as a volunteer.

Colleen has served on the Board of Trustees since 2001 in various positions including Secretary, Vice- Chair, and Chairperson and now serves as a Trustee.

Colleen, a Registered Nurse and Case Manager, has worked at Mt. Clemens General Hospital for 3 years and Detroit Receiving Hospital in the Medical ICU for 8 years and was promoted to Patient Care Coordinator for 2 years before her disability occurred.

She considers herself one of the luckiest people on earth as she found the true love of her life and guardian angel, Mike. Colleen and Mike built and live in a beautiful wheelchair accessible home in Chesterfield Township, MI and enjoy life to the fullest.


Terry Brusoe
Terry Brusoe · Trustee

Terry has lived in the Detroit Metro area his whole life. He’s earned 75 college credit hours concentrating on mathematics and science. During the last forty years, Terry has attended many continuing education conferences and seminars. He spent most of his working years in hospitals working as a Pulmonary Function Technician, but is now retired. In 1975, Terry was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). He recently became interested in helping those with disabilities. Terry learned the value of education in dealing with any disability and the necessity of teaching those with disabilities how to live the best life they can. He currently volunteers for many different organizations such as CMH, St. Johns Hospital, and several churches.


Randy Charon
Randy Charon · Trustee

Randy was introduced to DNOM in 1999, when he was in a hunting accident that paralyzed him from mid-chest down. During rehab, he became a member of Disability Network Oakland & Macomb. Randy attends empowerment meetings, became a facilitator, and joined the Board of Trustees. He
soon became a member of the Disability Network near my home. Randy attended their Empowerment meetings, became a facilitator, and joined their Board of Trustees. Prior to his accident, Randy was a heating/cooling technician for local 636 and has been married to his wonderful wife, Danielle, for 31 years. Randy wants to help advocate for all people with disabilities.


Mark Cronmiller
Mark Cronmiller · Trustee

Mark M. Cronmiller is an attorney who began his practice in 2005 and is currently working as a solo practitioner. Mr. Cronmiller joined the DNOM Board of Trustees in the fall of 2005 and in the fall of 2006 he became the Board Chairperson.

Previous to these experiences Mark lived in New York City for approximately 24 years, but is a native to Michigan and grew up in St. Clair Shores. During the 90s, Mark worked with several community organizations in NYC. There he was part of a spinal cord outreach program and helped design and implement meetings and education. Mark also volunteered with the Manhattan Center for Living, which worked with individuals in the community who had terminal illnesses. Another project Mark was involved with was the NY Nurses Association Hospice Program Community Outreach Design Team that worked to create a network of services that could be provided to hospice clients in their homes.

Mark is excited to be working with the Disability Network Oakland & Macomb organization at a time when there is great potential for future growth.


Andrew Maurer Andrew Maurer· Trustee

Born with Cerebral Palsy, Andrew Maurer is a licensed attorney in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, Maurer has also trained in comedy writing with the Second City and a SNL television writer. Maurer served for four years as a creator/writer/producer for "Master Comics LLC." an independent comic book label which he helped bring onto the national and international market, before leaving to pursue his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. When not assisting clients, Maurer is a huge Detroit Tigers baseball fan and also enjoys writing unpublished novels in his continuing attempt to be the next John Grisham.


Sarah Sudol
Sarah Sudol · Trustee

Sarah graduated from Western Michigan University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in health sciences. Following graduation she served 1 year with Ameri Corps as a volunteer Case Manager in a Homeless Shelter, Outreach Center, and Food Bank in rural Colorado. While serving for AmeriCorps she sat on the Rural Health Committee Initiative Board, and later initiated and maintained the foundation grant based position of Health Access Technician for the San Luis Valley in Alamosa Colorado.
In 2010 Sarah returned to Michigan and accepted a position as a Resident Service Coordinator in Detroit. As the Service Coordinator for a large senior and disabled community in the inner-city Sarah provided advocacy, guidance, and referrals to those navigating through issues such as State Benefit Access, Veteran Services, Social Security Disability Income, In-home and Auxiliary Support Services as well as providing ongoing educational sessions for the residents and the community at large. In April 2012 Sarah transferred, as a Service Coordinator, to a senior and disabled subsidized apartment community in Oakland County. In addition to Service Coordination, Sarah serves as a MMAP Counselor with the State Health Insurance Program on a voluntary basis, is SOAR trained, MiCafe Food Assistance and FernCare free health clinic volunteer. During her "down time", Sarah enjoys spending time outdoors with her son, gardening, reading, and traveling.
